We’re getting just a little closer to hassle-free 3D images in the operating room. Last week Samsung announced that their line-up of 3D-ready televisions would finally debut in South Korea, and should be arriving in the United States in the next month or so.
The PAVV Cannes 450 line of televisions use flicker-lens glasses to create the illusion of 3D vision (for an explanation of what that means, see our guide to 3D). They also claim a huge 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio and DNIe+ image enhancement.
The sets are available in 42″ and 50″ models for $1,850 and $2,650, and for the super advanced there is a 50″ HD set available for $4,120.
We know you probably just got new flat-screens installed in the operating room, but hey — technology waits for no man (or budget).

Actually, those seem rather reasonably priced.

I’ve used a projector for 3D microsurg for the past few months, and it is a real pain if you have two people standing across from each other, as only one can see. This seems like a better setup…
